In a world obsessed with Bay Area tech startups and “apps,” you might not think of aluminum production as an area of fast-paced innovation. Yet as materials science thunders along in the R&D lab and on the shop floor, the aluminum industry is constantly evolving to compete with new industrial requirements in the face of stiff competition against other materials, such as steel and composites.
