The Walton family, the heirs to the Walmart fortune, possess wealth equal to the bottom 40% of Americans – that’s 125 million other people.

Meanwhile, Wal-Mart in Cleveland just had a food drive…for its employees.

We are constantly regaled with tales of the “lazy, deserving” poor. America’s bigger story by far is the deliberate impoverishment of working people who are routinely unable to afford proper healthcare, and in this case, require handouts to get enough food for Thanksgiving. They work, but their wages do not enable them to afford the basics of life.

Wal-Mart made about $16 billion in profit last year.
