Pollster John Zogby has a very cool summary of how he sees the American Dream evolving as we adjust to the ramifications of the Great Recession.
Specifically, he talks of Baby Boomers giving up their obsession with financial success as a measure of happiness. People seem to be getting wise to the idea that the next gadget may be cool, but it won’t solve any of your real, spiritual problems.
Extra interesting is the fact that the generation under-30 doesn’t buy into the old American Dream at all and will likely create something different as they achieve power in society.
And I’m wondering, what is the Chinese Dream? Or the Portuguese Dream? Or Nigerian?
