As my friend Mark Foster points out, you do not have to remain in the dark long as to how Henry Rollins really feels. All the better. This sentiment about the future of music is fascinating and hopeful. In this interview, Rollins points out that music is very, very healthy, even if the companies that ship plastic discs to big box stores are not. What is happening is a complete phase change. The kids are jettisoning the entire music infrastructure in favor of touring basements and giving music away for free. It’s about creating art, creating movements and creating music. And that is what it has always been about, people creating art for its own sake, which has been going on for millennia before the bloated industrial machinery formed around it.
